March 14-16, 2012 - SFO to Sydney to Cairns, Cross the dateline in the night and miss my birthday, check into Novatel, long walk around town, opening dinner at hotel (Stanford group), birthday party 
March 17, 2012 - Early morning departure from the hotel, meet up with other passengers at the airport and fly to Rabaul.  Tour of Rabaul.  Board the Oceanic Explorer.
March 18, 2012 - Garove Island (Witu Island group)
March 19, 2012 - First SCUBA dive - Bagabag Island (with Jim Omura and Beat as dive master), First lectures - Introduction to Papua New Guinea
March 20, 2012 - The Sepik.  Cruise around Manum Island volcano in the last afternoon
March 21, 2012 - Madang - dock in harbour. Talk by Nancy Sullivan and Joyce
March 22, 2012 - Rough weather and rain preclude visits to Tuan amd Tami Island.  My second lecture (morning): "People and Culture of Papua New Guinea", dock in Dregerhafen Harbour, visit small visit "just around the corner" to view and by artifacts from Tami Islanders, Second SCUBA dive - Finschhafen reef followed by spectacular snorkling
March 23, 2012 - Lababia, hike to top of David Suzuki Trail, Performances by many villages, photo recap
March 24, 2012 - Tufi: "fjords", explore coastline, waterfall performance, Third SCUBA dive - Tufi
March 25, 2012 - Dei dei hot springs and geysers, Salamo Mission Village, Aussie barbeque
March 26, 2012 - Trobriand Islands - Kitava, Fourth SCUBA dive - Nuratu Island
March 27, 2012 - Alatau - dock, bus tours, final dance performance onboard ship, leave for Cairns accompanied by red footed and brown boobies
March 28, 2012 - Coral Sea Crossing, rough seas, final lectures - Kuru
March 29, 2012 Arrival in Cairns, bus to Novatel, fruit bats in profusion. Dinner with Steve, Mary Jane, Rich and Nancy
March 30, 2012 - Leisurely morning, cab to airport, Cairns to Sydney, transfer terminals, tight connection, catch Jetstar to Hobart
