Order:	Galliformes
Family:	Phasianidae
Years ago, during my second trip to Papua New Guinea,
I encountered a very serious twitcher from England.
We went birding together and during the day he passed some important milestone.
I seem to recall it was his three thousand bird on his life list.
Also notably, it was a bird of paradise.
That evening, he celebrated by buying drinks for everyone.
Amused, at some point I asked him where chicken was on his life list.
He took the question very seriously which amused me even more.
Now that I am more engaged in birds and particularly in photographing them,
it is time to finally pay homage to the chicken and give it a web page all its own.
After all, it is perhap the most evolutionarily successful bird in the world. :D

Perhaps I can elevate the stature of Gallus gallus even further by taking a photo of one on every continent...
Of course, I have to get to them first.
