Shark Valley, Everglades

This anhinga would repeated through sticks into the air and try to catch them.
It was as if she was trying to practice her skills.
In particular, anhinga will spear fish and then toss them in the air
so they can swallow them in the right orientation.

The Veep's weed
Bidens pilosa
Family: Asteraceae
Hollywood Beach
May 10, 2014
This common Florida weed is one of many that now reminds me of my childhood.
It took some effort to track down the name,
but even after I did, neither the binomial nor any of the many common names (eg Beggar's tick)
sounded the least bit familiar to me.
Judging from the pictures, this may actually be Bidens pilosa var. radiata.
Grass
Egyptian crowfoot grass (Dactyloctenium aegyptium)
Hollywood Beach

This is another example.
In this case (and presumably many others)
despite my association with Florida, this is actually an invasive - from Africa.
